As coach of track & field athletes for over thirty years and past National AAU
Chairman of Girls Track & Field and a former member of the United States Olympic
Committee I have learned from experience that athletes need more than normal nutrition.
Foods provide higher quality nutrients than synthetic supplements, but because conventional
foods no longer contain the nutrients they once had, concentrated superfoods have
become popular.
Over the years I became aware of the importance of Spirulina and have used it extensively
with athletes to give them that extra snap in their step they need to maintain superior
strength and endurance.
The one product that I have used with the most success is the Power Pack. Years ago
the American coaches knew that the Russian and East German athletes were performing
at a much higher level than our athletes and it was due to them taking large amounts
of vitamin B-15. We have it here in the form of a synthetic, however, I knew that
when you take the Power Pack which has Papaya Enzyme along with Ginseng and Bee Pollen,
when it gets into the stomach with the natural body enzymes it synergistically produces
vitamin B-15. This is much better than a synthetic.
Taken before jogging or athletic competition, athletes report Spirulina provides
consistent nutrition and energy and improves stamina. It is used in programs to increase
the endurance of marathon runners. Backpackers, cyclists and mountain climbers who
carry all their food take Spirulina tablets because they are concentrated and lightweight,
delivering more energy and stamina per weight than conventional foods. Spirulina
is used by athletes to improve performance and endurance and is often added in powder
form in nutritional formulas.
Proteins are essential for proper endurance training, and are needed to regenerate
body tissue, providing the framework for muscles, tendons, and blood hemoglobin.
For the athlete, Spirulina's most significant attribute is its high 65% protein content
and a high B-22 content that comes from a plant source, rather than red meat. Taken
before competition, Spirulina gives an energy boost with safe sustaining power. Spirulina Microcluster in veggie capsules is a potent source of energy.
